GINA:

complete your amazing Met's baseball card collection?
CHRIS:
Well, if you're searching for these an other illusive treasures, then maybe
it's time you logged on and let your mouse do the legwork.
SHOTS OF ANIMATE FIGURES AND REAL FIGURES, CU SHOT OF LARRY SHAPIRO, SHOTS OF
VARIOUS COLLECTABLE ITEMS, POSTCARDS, COMIC BOOKS, ETC.
NARRATOR:
Meet Larry Shapiro, AKA The Collective Detective. His mission, to locate
hard to find items for both professional and amateur collectors of just about
any kind of pop culture memorabilia.
LARRY SHAPIRO:
We are a locator service. We put buyers and sellers together. We want to
locate the items, identify them, tell you how to get them. If you see an
item that you're interested in you can click on it, it'll bring up a little
mini web page for the supplier, whether he's a retailer or private collector,
and you can send him an E mail. You can visit his website and make your own
transaction.
SHOTS FROM WEB PAGE
NARRATOR:
The website uses familiar catch phrases from some of our favorite classic TV
cops and PI's. (CLOSE UP LARRY, SHOTS OF WEB PAGE) And though Larry charges
up to X dollars for his on line middle man services, he feels that the time
he saves customers is well worth it.
CU SHOT OF LARRY
LARRY SHAPIRO:
People are spending a lot of time and money, running around looking for
things and maybe finding and maybe not finding (PAN BATMAN MEMORABILIA,
BASEBALL CARS, MAGAZINES, COMIC BOOKS) and dealers especially expressed a
need that sometimes it just wasn't worth spending half a day looking for a 20
dollar item for a customer.
PAN COMICS, FIGURINES
NARRATOR:
Larry has discovered that the people using the Collective Detective website
service are as varied as the memorabilia they collect.
CU OF LARRY
LARRY SHAPIRO:
We've had a lot of different kinds of people express interest. Some very
(SHOTS OF PRE-ANIMATION DRAWINGS, WEB PAGE, COMICS) artistically oriented
people that are interested in the pure beauty of the art. Many people that
are strictly collectors, they say it's a commodity, you know if I can do
better with (CU LARRY) Captain Marvel than with porkbellies, then I want
Captain Marvel.
NARRATOR:
And for this former IBM engineer, (PAN WEB PAGE) learning the ins-and-outs of
being a web master has been both rewarding and challenging.
LARRY SHAPIRO:
Well, I've always felt the world of computers seemed to evolve faster than
anything else, and (CU LARRY) it seems like it was crawling compared to
what's going on the Internet and if you've been involved for a year and a
half, you're a veteran. You're a battlescarred pioneer.
JUMP QUICKLY FROM ITEMS TO WEBSITE ITEMS
NARRATOR:
So, no matter what you're looking for, check in with the Collective Detective
and let this seasoned veteran of the web help you out.
